My roomie from school may have found a T-Top fiero that I am interested in buying in a boneyard if so. His dad seems to think that it's just a 2 piece sunroof.....maybe because of the aluminum outer edges of the glass? Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone had ever seen any type of 2 piece sunroof on a fiero so I can consider the odds that it actually is or isn't a T-Top car before I make the long haul out there to buy it.
Thanks, Ryan

can't say I have ever seen a 2 peice sunroof in a Fiero Its impossible actually I would have to say its a t-top unless someone got way to creative with their sunroof.

No no a t-top fier is a t-top fiero! Very rare! The t-top is not a 2 piece sunroof cause it has a totally diferent frame system... The frame section runs in the middle rather than the outsides! And there are latches that lock the t-top sections into place on the outside! I die to find a t-top Fiero!

Don't discount the possiblity. I bought an original T-Top Formula in the wrecking yard once.
Here is the test, check the RPO codes on the front left fender. There will be a "CJB" code if the T-tops are factory original. If not, they are aftrmarket.

All Fiero t-tops are aftermarket by C&C. Pontiac offered the C&C t-tops as an official option in 1988, hence the option code. I don't know if C&C did the actuall install on the 88s or if Pontiac bought the kits and installed it themselves. My guess is that Pontiac contracted with C&C to install the tops as the cars left the assembly line.

The latter Tom. Cars with the CJB option code were loaded onto a car carrier and shipped to C&C (Farmont Skylite) where the T-Tops were installed. They installed some 1100 units in 88.
What I was trying to get across was the fact that C&C was not the only company making T-tops for the Fiero. So if you are concerned about whether the T-tops are of good quality with spare parts still available (like weather seals, etc.) then look for the Code, or look for the C&C logo in the corner of the T-Top glass.
good luck

There used to be an aftermarket sunroof that actually had two separate pieces of glass. You could raise or remove either section seperately. But it was still just an aftermarket sunroof.
Of course, I don't know if the car in question has this or not, but there was such an animal at one time...
I got my T-top Fiero just a few months ago and let me tell you, it will take about 5 seconds to tell if you have T-tops or a 2-piece sunroof..
Onre more note about C&C, they also built my Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe. GM shipped the cars to them to do the conversions to make the required number of street cars so they could be used for NASCAR. I wish they were still in business to reproduce the stickers... When you paint your car you lose that piece of history.
Ryan, I hope you don't think YOU are buying that T-top! That baby is mine. If you don't let me buy it, your V8 dream will never come true Did Charlie get pics of it yet? Don't keep me in suspense. And don't forget about the deal we had.

Ya song, we used to install those in van conversions in the mid 80's. About the MonteCarlo decal, have you checked the sites on Hemmings Classic Cars on Speedvision? Also a good graphics/sign shop should be able to duplicate it with a color picture. I have a friend sho did a bunch of Ferrari stuff for me in his shop. His wheel centers were better looking that OEM ones.

Hemmings is a good idea, Roger.. I had thought of trying to get some reproduced, but mine are faded off on the Aerocoupe. I can see the outline of the sticker but it is totally clear now. If I can ever find one I wil be able to get more made... Thanks for the Hemmings idea..
Jon (Rock)......don't worry, the T-Tops are all yours, so far, the only update I have for you is that the owner of the yard said "Come down here with a pocketful of money and I'll cut anything you want off of that car." so I guess we're on for SAT?? btw, travel time is about 2:10 each way!!!
...the owner of the yard said "Come down here with a pocketful of money and I'll cut anything you want off of that car" [/B]
Keep in mind that the owner probably has no idea how rare a T-Top Fiero really is. If you give the OK to start cutting, I'd be willing to bet he would ruin the T-top weatherstripping around the doors. Remember, the seal starts about half way up the door goes around the t-top and back down the door half way. DO NOT LET HIM CUT THE SEALS!

thanks mrfixit, I was planning on removing the weatherstripping around the doors prior to him doing ANY cutting, but wanted to say thanks for the heads up anyway.
Thanks, Ryan

We remove the seals and glass before he cuts or no deal.
Fleabit, thanks for letting me know about that one. It sounds like there isn't much left? Not worth much unless the one I'm getting has a lot of rust on the metal frame. I'll let you know if I decide I wanna take a look at it.
