I'm planning to get rid of the 2.5 and put in a 350 this summer (with the Archie kit). My cousin (who is assisting me in doing the swap)is betting that I break the axle's within 2 weeks. Has anyone had any problems with this, and if so, what can I do about it? Next issue: any problems with the 4-speed transmission?

Finally, here's my chance to make enough money so that I can retire.
I'll bet you (or your Cousin)$1,000,000 that he's wrong.

I'm not much of a mechanic, so I'm not betting on anything. He's betting with some friends of his. Yeah, I think I could break them for a million also ...So the axle's and the 4-speed can take the abuse of the V8?
My advice is get rid of the 4 speed and put in a 5 speed. The first gear in the 5 is rather low so you have to get out of it quick but the other gears greatly make up for that.

If I had the money, I would love to get the 5 speed, but with the motor and kit, I'm going to have to sit on the street corner with a cup begging for spare change, so for now i'm going to have to work with what I have.
Thanks for the advice, Jason

Please keep in mind,I did this on purpose. Already had replacement tranny at the shop (Izusu 5 speed) And wanted to see what the Muncie could handle before replacing it. This is my daily driver in the summer. And the tranny held up just fine until......
Last day to drive Fiero before retiring it for the winter.
Beat on it hard and constant at the local streets for a couple of hours.......No problems.. Stopped at the shop, picked up flatbed. Then off to private street and after a half an hour of continous burnouts. VOILA'
Almost killed myself though. Jumping out of the car, in time to catch the smoke on camera.
Tranny I did get the tires to smoke a little. But one thing my mechanic isn't good at is taking pictures. Oh well, he does have his redeeming qualities.
