I have an 85se 4cyl 5spd with a very annoying clutch.. It will not engage into first while moving, or sometimes into second, but the main problem is I really have to push against the footrests to shift... First I am going to bleed the clutch to see if that is the problem, but I read somewhere that an aluminum pedal could be the fault.. I held a magnet against the pedal and it is NOT magnetic... I'm wondering how much of a difference this could actually make? (Not enough so that it doesn't shift right, could it?) I'm thinking that bleeding is the problem?

Replace the aluminum pedal before you go any further! You will bleed your brains out and not get anywhere if you still have the aluminum pedal.

It actuall ymakes that much of a difference? It can't flex that much... (And if the magnet doesn't stick, that means replace it, right?
