OK, You knew this thread was coming. It is 2 days before the official start of the show and the "BUZZ" is just tremendous. One of our club members, A.T. Maxim has his beautiful 3X,XXX mile White 1988 GT on Display at the McDonald's Restaurant on Woodward Ave, near the host hotel. It has been there for a few weeks helping promote the show, and will be on display there throughout the show. (We have the address on the itineraries for you to plug into your GPS)

So without further adieu, here are the first official photos for the 25th Anniversary Show!

Sign at hotel promoting the show

Sign promoting the car and show at the Mickey D's. It was behind glass, and difficult to get a good photo of.

I hope that car is sealed up nice and tight or it's likely going to McSmell for a long McTime

I must say your McDonalds is much cooler than ours, actually they tore ours down last week...

So does the Fiero come with fries...
Or just fires?

I'm dumb, I had to say it

I'm also going insane waiting for 5am Thursday so we can get up there already!

At Hooter's the crowds can get a bit rowdy. Its in the correct place (granted I'd like mine glassed off not sectioned). I wouldn't want someone rubbing their sticky hands on the DUBS.

But you can't buy better visibility/exposure than a McD's... more people through there than pretty much any other single establishment in a day!

Also, a wider selection of people. People who would never go to a Hooters, etc. Older folks, women, kids, etc.

There's a wait list of the cars that get shown there.

http://info.detnews.com/joy...ory/index.cfm?id=151
The car currently on display is a blue '65 Mustang, but next week or next month, it could be a '57 Chevrolet or a Model A Ford or even a classic Mercedes-Benz or Packard from the '30s.

Have fun you all. I look forward to all the pics.

I will split these up better for people later when I am on my own computer....but for now, you can at least see the activity.

First race is DrCPU, caught trying his Canadian start, followed up with Pyrthian. I missed Pyrthian's time on this one. This was my first time filming with this camera, and I had just ran to the bleachers to start filming when the burnout started. Excuse the shaking, but I was lucky to even catch these.
http://www.cowspatoot.com/25th/race1.avi

This one is Green87 (in his silver 86) beating up on a Mustang, followed by Dark Horizon killing a Mustang.
http://www.cowspatoot.com/25th/race2.avi

DrCPU's second run. This time he figured out where we stage here in the states.
http://www.cowspatoot.com/25th/race3.avi

Green87 vs Pyrthian
http://www.cowspatoot.com/25th/race4.avi

Dark Horizon's second run. I believe the 1/4 mile times post needs to be updated.
http://www.cowspatoot.com/25th/race5.avi

Green87 vs Pyrthian again, followed by DrCPU's third run.
http://www.cowspatoot.com/25th/race6.avi

All but one drove away. I didn't catch who this is, but it is one of Dark Horizon's group. Victim of a broken axle on his first launch. I wasn't filming, I didn't realize he had lined up. He was towed back to Flint, and will most likely have the car repaired in time for the rest of the festivities.

What do you expect? People in general are pigs.

If it was my store, id expect that and isolate the cars from the patrons with some glass, as i know who ever would bring their car in to show wouldn't want it pelted with food. Could you imagine a chocolate shake tossed into the cabin of a convertible that wasn't noticed for a couple of days?

Maybe, but actually I think it's a reflection and not a french fry. I went by there last night and the lobby was closed, but from the outside it looked pristine.

I don't know how big the hotel is, but I bet there will still be a few 'regular' customers + a few people that couldn't bring their Fiero. Besides, there is still the hotel staff too. But it would make for a cool picture if *only* Fieros were there at some point.

fwiw plenty of kids go to mcdonalds and i've seen enough play with their food around displays near a seating area like this
and i wouldn't be suprised if the parents bringing their children to mcdonalds are less responsible supervising

There are currently 2 groups at the hotel. Starting Friday evening, we will be the primary customers at the hotel, and that lot is ours. There is another lot that regular customers can use. So to answer your question, yes it will be "chock full of Fieros!"

Ya, I wouldn't worry too much if it is behind glass. I actually assumed the french fry was placed there by the owner in humour.
In any event, say what you like about mcDonalds, I think it's pretty decent of them to allow a fiero to be parked in the store promoting the show. If anything, we should be thanking them...

Attending the 25th was a reward for this OLD guy getting thru almost two years of college to get my bachelor degree! Da.... car let me down. Mark could you send my packet to me? I hope so.

See Arns picture below. I have more white hair than he does.

Thank you,

Where are all the pics? I have to say, quite a disappointment here. During the 20th at this same time there were multiple threads and 100's of pics posted. Did only a few of you bring your digital cams?

C'mon, get out of the sun, stop looking at all the Fiero's and post your pics already.

Thanks to all who have posted pics already and shame on all of you who haven't.

Thanks, everyone, for the great pics!

Just through the sheer guilt they've instilled in me, these excellent pics have removed for me any doubt about the expense of soon having the front fascia of my `86 GT refinished and repainted, and adding a left rear quarter panel side panel scoop from The Fiero Warehouse that will be made functional with the stock Fiero CAI system.

Those changes won't make my car rival the appearance of the cars you've so thoughtfully provided us pictures of, but they will make me forget that my daily driver '86 GT currently has 60+ (I've stopped counting them) stone chips in its front fascia that drive me nuts every time I see them.

By the way, might anyone know the brand name of the wheels shown on these next two pics from RCR? I'd like to get wheels just like those, but I can't make out their brand name on my ratty computer monitor:

It is a shame that GM just a few years ago crushed the preproduction 89's that were setting at warehouse that Jim runs. Members of a Pontiac club from Australia took pictures of them. They would have made great show cars for GM/Pontiac to display. I have sold GM products for over 30 years and some times they do some dumb things.

Because of topcat's earlier guess that they might be Chip Foose wheels (understandable, because I see from Foose's website that they look similar to his "Nitrous II" wheels), I'd sought their prices but found none listed on their website, either.

This gives to me new meaning to the saying, "If one has to ask its price, one probably can't afford it."

Nonetheless, gentlemen, thanks for your input re those wheels.

Sorry about the Akraiser I enjoy talking. I did spend over a hour with John Callies who took a shot with me by my car in the prototype corral for his old buddy Bob Bircmier who build many cars for him including the GoodWrench car next to us with my car. They had been in the Garage together about 22 years before this and back together yesterday for the first time. I was asked to bring the car in and graciously accepted. I also was lucky enough to drive the very 1st Feiro made around for about 30 minutes giving rides and still smiling when I think about it. I found more people to talk about my car in general from when it was born especially John C who bought it and sent it over to DGP to get done right away. Hulki floored me when he came over to it and told me he had it sent to DGP I guess before he left he ok'd them for the SD4. I do think he meant the SD4's in general but didn't pry him for info as he was busy. I spent some time with Paul V also and want to thank him for allowing me to talk his ear off hahahaha. We had a shoot of our two cars together and they seemed to draw allot of attention which was great.

I had a worker come up to me and told about my car being in the plant with the convertible to show the employees. They left them there for a few days to boost everyone's morale up.

Enjoyed everyone's company and wished I could have spent a week there with the people and there cars. I especially want to thank all of the volunteers and the Michigan Fiero club especially Fred Bartemeyer who ran around helping everyone and won more awards than anyone I have every seen at one setting hahahahaha. I am downloading vids now lets hope they work. Rick B

I had a blast here at the 25th. My only regret is that so many people were here I couldn't hang out with everybody. There are quite a few people that I didn't meet, and I'm sure I forgot a few people's real names already. But it was a great show. Maybe at the 30th it should be a week long event?

Here's a few pics that haven't been posted yet.

Through the generosity of Tom Corey my son and I got to run at MIS...that was a blast.

The rickety ole 2.8 got us up to about 100 mph. Not bad considering the T-tops were off.

Here are some Texans, and a guy from Michigan...

At the banquet the two ends of the Fiero spectrum met..."Friends don't let Friends drive stock" versus "Factory stock...the way God intended"

(sorry it's out of focus)

I did get the Movie Car signed by Hulki...he liked my dash, said it looked better than the original one.

Here are a few of my favorites:

And I capped off the weekend by visiting the old Fiero Plant. It's still there on 900 Baldwin Street, (at least some part of it). I got a wave and a honk from a passerby as I was taking the picture.

but in the mean time, i just want to say here that this weekend ranks VERY high on the list of best times of my life. all the things i got to see and do, the people i met, the silly things and good times... man it was great

Dan(Gokart Mozart), i had such a nice time hanging out with you, talking, and getting to know you! Jason, you are freakin awesome ofcourse, i love you man! MadCurl, your sweet man! it was so cool to meet you! The Texans, you guys are crazy and fun and the last night wouldnt have been so much fun if it wasnt for you! its allways a pleasure to see AC jr and AC sr, and his silly laugh and great stories! OhioIndy, your a cool dude and so is your son and i got some sweet Indy pics i cant wait to post here that i think you will like. FireFox, hahaaaaa your silly, your like the cool uncle i never had, and your wife is so sweet! i got to meet and talk to so many other of you guys(but i never remember names that well) and it was really awesome! ill never forget how great of a time i had and a big part of it was feeling like we are all one big family. ive never had this kinda community thing before but it really means a lot to me i could just keep goin on and on about the sentimental value of all this... buuut...

...before i get toooo choked up.... i gots to go to bed.

i dont know about you guys, but its gonna be real hard getting back into the swing of normal life after having such an amazing few days.

Lot of great pictures, lot of outstanding cars. I was the guy selling my Fiero stuff outside (and our black GT), so I didn't get to walk around and talk to many folks, but some fellow PFFers stopped by and introduced themselves (thank-you) We sold enough of our garage stuff to pay for our hotel room, gas, and part of the Penske rental for the weekend. We would of hung out more but the hotel wouldn't let us check in with our bulldogs (after sitting in the lobby for 2 hours, grrrrr) and they found us another hotel across the street.
I have to admit seeing some of your cars really make me question if we should sell ours, plus I got Hulki atuograph
Regardless, really great event and turn-out.
Blessings
Dan & Dora Johnson

This is great! With your pictures and narrative, I'm just now able to put some people with their Pennock's names! Wish there was a better way to do that at the show, but I'm learning!! I'll know more next time! Thanks again, everybody! What a great time!!

I had a great time at the 25th too! Lots of fun, tons of cars, tons of great people! I really have little to add that hasn't been said already. I do have some pics I took (Ok... 177 of them!) I am more than happy to share. Instead of linking 177 pics, I'll just post the link to the hosting site they are located at:

Well, sad that I couldn't make it. A lot of great looking Fieros were in attendance. I recognized many faces and it's been way too long since I've seen any of them in person. Blake and Steve pallin' it up. Steve, didn't see a pic of your car. It's been a while since I've seen it. Blake, where's the new color I heard of? Mike (MrFiero) didn't see you in the pics. I know you can't miss an event like this, even without your Fiero. West Coast crew, how was the road trip? Did ya'll caravan again? Did you know who (FieroBear) forget to pay for gas again? lol

One thing I missed in all of the pics was the absence or lack of photos of notchie converted to fastbacks without the aero bumpers. Did anyone bring one to the show? Any pics?

And maybe I can't see that well (I am getting old ) but I also noticed that there weren't that many Fieros with Aus Stage II's.

Like I said before, a lot of great looking cars. I'm sure GM never envisioned the mods and changes everyone would bring to the Fiero community.

Now, somoene start making molds and a kit for that awesome convertible prototype.

A few of my fav pics my brother took yesterday for the MIS track day.

Just before leaving Justin's in Troy - looking good even in primer

Fiero's on a roll down the 696:

Driver's meeting in the Paddock area:

Just a few laps of fuel for the qualifying run :

OH YEAH! - hit 6000 rpm in 5th on the second lap - I later confirmed on the GPS that was 113MPH or 182KM on lap one starting third on the grid :

Looky here, it's Tina's Nitrous powered 383 in my draft, so I wind up to 8000rpm in 4th only to fill the hatch with smoke
Holy crap - some thought it was tire smoke, others thought I lost a cylinder, I thought it was a rad hose clamp leak.
Lucky for me the smoke cleared when I shifted back to 5th gear - Bubbajoe's airflow design works great!
Upon inspection back in the pits after 5 laps it was only an engine oil dipstick that popped open and splashed on the header

With over 40 Fiero's on the track by lap 3 the fun was over as no lapping was allowed...you really notice how steep the banking is going slowly:

Had a great time, and a great lunch afterwards - I'd love to go back with the Michigan Fiero Club one day when there's less than 20 cars at once.
Thanks for your hospitality Bob.
Ryan

P.S.
Anyone want the see the video of lap one?

There really aren’t many pictures on that site. I have not been able to update it for many years now. I'm surprised that it’s still there, that was the one of the first web sites I built and I no longer have the service that hosts it.
There are a few more pictures on this site http://chicagolandreplicar.tripod.com/dave&.htm I just noticed most of the links don’t work on that page either.

Right know it’s just a stock Fiero with a rebody on it. Maybe someday I’ll put a different motor in it. If anyone has any questions about the car you can PM me ………..Don’t want to take the thread to far OT

The wheels on my gold car are in fact Boyd Coddington Junk Yard Dogs.
I had to have them specially made for my car.
It was a real pain in the butt, and more expensive than it should have been, but I love them!
They are 18x8 all around.
They took almost 3 months to get them to me too!
I really wanted them in Chrome too, but boyd only makes billett wheels and they told me that chrome plating them would be a mistake as the chrome might chip where the 2 pieces are welded together. (they are 2 piece wheels)
I had a blast at the show and will be posting my pics up asap.

Whew, just got home and I am exhausted. I took about 400 pictures, I tried to get one of every car and of course multiple shots of some of my favorites... I'll try to get them uploaded to my photobucket and post that but it may be a few days with my dialup. If anyone wants a hi-res pic of their car PM me and tell me which one it is and I'll try to get those send out.

Had a great time meeting the people that I did (I know us Texans were a little antisocial, so I didn't get to meet everyone I would have wanted) and hanging out with the Canadians and the Funks What was the final count on Fieros? It was beyond ridiculous seeing them all together, a 'once in a lifetime' kind of deal for sure. Also, seeing and sitting in the Stinger was kind of a dream come true kinda deal... made up my mind that I'm going to start saving for a coupe chop top of my own. And Tina's car was especially impressive... so much attention to detail!

Anyway, thanks to everyone who worked to pull this thing together, we had a great time... If there is a 30th, I'll be there with Orange!

I'll get to work on those photos this evening, right now it's time to go for a drive...

I am slowly uploading them all to a folder in on my Photobucket account, got the 1st 150 or so up now and the rest will be up as soon as possible. I do believe I got one of every car, plus there are alot of group shots, and then our after-trip to Niagara Falls is at the end (but yall can ignore those, unless you like seagulls as much as I do )

Glad to see that the car hauler was interesting to others as well. The yellow formula is mine, black GT is KEV's, green GT is MinngreenGT aka Rob's, and silver GT is his dad's. This worked really well for us for the long haul, I hope to be able to use it more. There were no break downs, one flat tire changed in a few minutes, and no damage to any of the cars. The show was the best, it was realy nice to see friends that I havn't seen in 5 years. Hope to see you all again soon.

We're guessing crappy tires + crappy roads maybe... The trailer is certainly capable of far more weight than we saddled it down with!

It wasn't too big of a deal though... about 15-20 minutes to change the tire (we were less than 1 mile from the next exit), would've probably been quicker but we had to unload two cars to allow the jack to lift it enough to get the new tire back on. Then across the highway to air it up (the station we initially stopped at was too small/tight to get the trailer in place for air).

Either way, thats a good idea to haul 4-cars instead of driving them to a show. Split 4-ways what was the cost? Personal truck or rented?

Based on fuel economy alone - we carried 4 cars @ 10mpg (Diesel) @ somewhere around $4.70/gal. Each of us ended up putting in about $150-$160 in fuel cost (similar, if not slightly less than what we'd have spent actually driving the cars). Also, aside from the tire & a fuse for the trailer brakes... we had a rather uneventful drive (which considering how my car acted up while at the show... wouldn't have likely been the case if we'd driven).

Probably the biggest "bonus" to hauling a group? The social time... no endless highway hours isolated in our individual cars - instead we laughed, told stories, and even listened to an audio book throughout the trip out & back. We've already talked about doing the same thing for other shows in the future!

There were a few other things - although Marty owns a nice Extended-Cab Chevy hauler, the Dodge was "on loan" from his boss *Thanks John* (and was larger, being a quad-cab, and the diesel pulled the load effortlessly). The trailer (formerly Shawn/Purple Reign's) was also borrowed (although Marty is considering it as a possible investment - as it is currently for sale by the owner), and was quite a distance from Marty (4-5 hours drive time across the state).

When Marty and Kev picked the trailer up the weekend prior to leaving - it had been sitting unused for quite sometime. So Marty personally invested a little money (minor wiring & some grease), and a lot of time insuring that it was road worthy for the trip. A HUGE thanks again to Marty for doing that!

I personally spent a total of about $300-350 on the entire trip (my Dad picked up my hotel room tab as we shared the room, and he also picked up the dinner a couple more times than expected).

Glad you liked them. I have pics of each car unloading but they are much the same as far as the hauler goes.
The decks are all hydraulic with tie-down tracks running the full length of the floors. The rear door of course becomes the lift then raises back up to close as the chains and lift-rams tuck into fold-out panels at the rear corners. Very cool.

Here is a better view of the interior set-up.

That van drinks more than Ted Kennedy.
It gets around 12 to 14 MPG with out the trailer and the Indy.
I went from Wooster Ohio to Pontiac MI with the Indy in tow.
A couple of trips to sight see without the trailer.
The back to Wooster with the car in tow and I spent $165.00 in gas.
Roughly it got 7.5 MPG for the trip.
And I’m towing a 4 cylinder…what the heck is wrong with me???
Seriously I love the van you can take a pile of people with you
and the van protects the Indy much better than a pick up will.

You do not buy a Ford if you want to tow. I have the F150 and I did about 10 mph with the trailer and if I am straight highway nothing in tow I can get 16. My Avalanche did 16 towing and I miss that truck so badly. I was a dummy when I let her go.

I also do not worry about gas mileage as it is pointless and minor compared to other ways we blow money. Rick B

Wow, that trailer really slows you down to a crawl!

I could have towed with my Avalanche, it will get 15 mpg with the trailer and 21 mpg without...but I preferred to drive the Fiero and get 30 mpg.

I would have also drove mine but my Prototype has 25,000 miles on it and I prefer to leave it as low as I can trailering it if I go that far. Rick B

That E-250 Econoline van could drag my 1500 Silverado down the road with the parking break on. There is a BIG difference between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 .

I spent about $200 (fuel and tolls).

If your intent is to haul your cars and only haul cars, that's a great rig. I can't see the bed well enough to make any real judgements. I actually looked at some Take Three trailers prior to buying the trailer I have. It all depends on the intended use. I haul a lot of other items besides Fieros/vehicles so the Car Hauler was not an ideal purchase for me. Before you go buying a truck or trailer, think outside of the box about what else you might use that truck or trailer for. If it's car hauling and nothing else, then you know what you want and need.

Really?
I picked up a parts car in Nashville and towed it (on a full U-Haul trailer) behind my father-in-law's F-150 with the 5.8. It was hard to tell it was even back there, until I stepped on the brakes to slow down. Not that that was a real issue.
I didn't measure mileage, but it wasn't horrible.

That is a custom notchie. The head lights are recessed. The black top is very subtle. I did not even notice it. You'll also notice the wrap around spoiler. This car does not have a spoiler in any other picture. The owner (I suspect) had just closed the rear deck and was holding it above the deck to see how it looked. I just happened to get the picture as he was doing it.

The car belongs to mafv8 here on PFF. He had just purchased the whale tail and was mocking it up, hopefully he will get it installed soon and post some pics. The headlights were real, but I do not know whos kit they were. His car was quite clean and I liked the black roofline as well.

Re: the trailering topic - I liked the mileage my car got (about 30mpg) but putting well over 5000 miles on my car, replacing a tire and getting an alignment in Janesville WI (bad roads, musta hit something on the way) and having a clutch malfunction in WY on the way home, plus the obvious vibration in the back end by the time we got home means some big expense before the 30th.

It DOES give me an excuse to put that 3800 in though .. hm ..

yes thats my car, the headlights were made by 'TOM' who was on the forum a few years ago, I added the seperate flush covers, probably from Kris Munson, can't really remember, when I first got the car it had no sunroof and it was painted black, looked as good that way. I was working on the spoiler today, preping for paint, I have already fitted it to the car and it looks good, I will probably get it painted red to match the car ?

I'd say keep the spoiler black, it totally complimented the roof clip, and looked ridiculously nice. That photo is actually my desktop background, at the moment anyway. Beautiful car.

I really do like the headlights, I like the idea of recessed headlights but dont like clear lenses, any chance you could figure out exactly where you got those smoked lenses? I'd only get the flushmounts if I could get those lenses with them.

Actually the lenses are clear, the recessed headlamp buckets are black, so with the hood up you see the black buckets giving the impression of smoked lenses, but you could probably apply one of those tinted headlight paint kits to clear lenses without much trouble.

The car is a one-off by an automotive designer in Detroit. It was built as a test of concept(s) according to the builder/owner I talked to at the time. Not based on a Fiero chassis, all custom built. No kit will be available. Northstar powered with fiberglass body, unfinished interior.

Anyone see the couple sunday night booking in for their honeymoon? What a honeymoon!!! Wake up and see Fiero's everywhere, too bad they came a day late. After mentioning this to a few lady friends, they said it would be the worst honeymoon ever! lol

Hey Tal... what was it about THIS picture that caught your eye?
The Pepto supercharger (with matching skull helmet)?...

Or the fact that Daniel had a Brittney Spears pillow peaking out from the trunk?

When I looked at them (its two of them) they didn't look like front and rear bumper cameras, I could be wrong?

I gave them a thumbs up and we finally met when we stopped for gas later. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the sign lol. I was gonna ask if you still had it and have you guys sign it ! enjoi the pics.

I've just now gotten around to looking through the last half of this thread, and was pleasantly surprised to see your post. I'll check and see if I still have the sign somewhere... not much of a sign really, since I just scribbled the biggest letters I could on a notepad when we saw two Fieros on the highway about two miles ahead. In any case, it was alot of fun to meet up with you guys, and to share this experience with everyone. I'll post the links to all my galleries in the coming days.
