I'll be there with my '88. this year. I had a great time last year even though I didn't have a car ready to show. Can't wait, I've already made my accommodations.

I swore up and down that I would make the 2004 show only to have my throttle cable freeze up at 80MPH. I made it to Melbourne Fl and parked the car at a friends house, then went back home. Well for the 2005 show, if necessary the car will be towed if it fails to get there on its own.

Just bolted the cradle in with the new (new for this car anyway) motor and started hooking things up. If this one works out, that gives me 3 months to get the rest of the car in shape. Can I do it? Probably not but it gives me something to shoot for.

The last 2 years I've had to drive the 280Z down because the Fiero wasn't running but I hope to break that streak this year. Keep your fingers crossed.

See everyone in March.

Hey Jonathan,

THanks for asking. To be honest, I haven't done much this year. By the time I got around to start anything, along comes Charlie, Frances, and Jeanne. Since I work for the local power company, I was putting a lot of extra hours at work which left little time for ANYTHING at home.

But, I've recently started working on a big brake upgrade. Rest assured it'll be very different -- what else would you expect from the mrfixit garage . I hope to finish the mock-up this weekend and plan on sharing it with the Pennock's family soon.

You gonna bring the choptop this year?

One brain cell just kicked in and I thought I remembered Archie parking the truck and trailer at the track. Then he would drive the car back to the hotel. I don't think Cool Blue did that though. I thought there was somewhere closer to the hotel where he parked his trailer.

Ok here is the scoop on trailers.

Let me tell you this 1st. ANYONE who thinks he's gonna be able to find a place to park his trailer at the Holiday Inn is nuts. You'll be lucky to find a place to park your Fiero let alone your rig. Besides if you've never done it before the drive etween the track (where you get off the highway) & the Hotel is pretty tight with heavy traffic etc. I've had times where it took me 2 hours to drive that 9 or 10 miles.

2 or 3 times I've paid the extra $$ to bring my trailer into my display, I usually arrainge this with the track in advance. Someone with the FL club helps me arrainge this but I know it's a pain for him so I'm not recommending it.

But there is a great place to put the trailers, they have security & everything right there at the track. It's on the East side of the track & is a Marshalling yard for the trucks & trailers that haul cars to the show. There is no charge to use this area and it has security.

Whenever I come in for the show, I get off I95 at the Speedway. Park my truck & trailer either in my display area or in the Marshalling yard. Then I unload my car, grab my bags & drive the car to the Hotel. Last year MotorTV went with me & there wasn't enough room in the GT40 for our bags so we found someone like Cool Blue to take them to the Hotel for us. We reverse this proceedure on Sunday when we go over to the track after checking out of the Hotel.

Ok now for the really daring people who just have to pull that trailer over to the Holiday Inn. I understand that there is a unsecure parking lot about 1/2 mile South of the Holiday Inn that can be used if you are staying at the HI.

Archie

SCF [Dragon] (dragon@spacecoastfieros.com) MSG #40, 12-15-2004 11:52 PM
There is a place for trailer parking at the track as Archie mentioned. The only trailers that will be allowed inside the track area except to drop off cars will be the venders. All other trailers will have to be in the designated area outside the track (free).

Again as Archie mentioned - don't bring them to the hotel unless you want to pay extra fees to have them close by at the liquor store parking lot.

Of course there are other questions so drop me a line at Dragon@SpaceCoastFieros.com

Frank

      Hi guys,

Been off line for a while. Yes, as Archie said, I keep my trailer on the east side of the track. I think it's gate 25.

The past few years, I've left both the trailer & Fiero at the track overnight and taken the Suburban to & from the hotel.

Anyone needing a ride over in the morning is more than welcome to go over with me. The Suburban seats 9. I plan to head over as soon as the track opens.

Archie (archie@v8archie.com) MSG #42, 12-16-2004 12:44 AM
      Oh, yeah, I forgot.......

There are some people that leave their trailer & show car at the track and drive their tow vehicle to the hotel.

Some leave their cars at the track so they'll be perfectly clean for the show.

Some of us leave the truck & trailer at the show & drive the Fiero to the Hotel.

One guy who is always great about helping out is Blue, he's carried my bags either to the Hotel or back to the track more than once.

Archie

I know I speak for many others when I say that we'd sure like it if you were to bring the Silver Chop to Daytona instead.

Many of us have not seen the Silver car finished in person. We know that #15 will be really nice when it's done but the fact that you are bringing it to FL to get some work done means that it won't be complete at the Daytona show.

I know a lot of people are "on the fence" as to wether they are going to Daytona this year could be pushed into attending if they knew the silver car would be there.

May I suggest that you bring the silver car for the show & ship (or get someone else to drive) #15.

Then, next year, I'll work on trying to talk you into bringing the completed #15.

Culey, I feel for you... I have been to more than one event where people were disappointed that I brought the "wrong" car. I prefer to show a completed car which is why I don't want to bring #14 to Daytona.

My two cents,...bring whichever one makes sense to you. I don't think people will be disappointed either way. #15 is a show stopper already.

I freely admit that every time i go to Daytona my favorite section is the projects or work in progess secion in the back. That is usually were i spend most of my time and where u find some of the most interesting cars.

I was hugely disappointed last year when the silver chop top did not make it, but i am just as pumped to see #15 this go round.
This car is coming along nicely.

As for Jscott, that is very, very disappointing news, but again you have to do what works best for you. With or without the chopper i hope u make it to the show.

http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/048549.html

Unless we get an unusually large number of cars, we do not plan to break down the classes based on mileage. If I get this wrong maybe Kevin or Frank will chime in and correct me.

Modified Fastback
Modified Coupe
Custom Fastback
Custom Coupe
Stock Fastback
Stock Coupe
Stock Formula
Stock Indy - I'm not sure, but will check with Kevin and Frank on this one - also can't remember if we ahve a class for notchback GTs this year.
Daily Driver Coupe
Daily Driver Fastback
Daily Driver Custom Fastback
Daily Driver Custom Coupe
Kit Car
Mera

Display - There will be an optional display area for former First in Class Winners or better, but no trophy or judging of the display cars.
There will also be a parking area in the back for support vehicles, Fieros you do not want to show.

I'm sure I've missed something. I'll check with Frank and Kevin to be sure I've got it right.

Oh the trials and tribulations of owning more than one Show Fiero...

Well, I hate to quote myself...but I have registered my Number 2 car in the Daily Driver Custom Fastback and I will be at Daytona. I hope too many people are not disappointed that Chop Top #14 will not be there this year, but it is next season's show car. With any luck it will be ready in the fall.

Time has come that we can not accept anymore registrations via the mail. We do not have the time to process the paperwork and then get it sent to Daytona, and the track pass forwarded out from there. Also, the shirt order has been sent in that has come to a dead end.

Thanks

Frank

Sent my papers in last week or so. Do I get a card in the mail back? I got a confirm email a few days ago.
On another note, I got my Lumbar replacments finished up today. Only got to get my 1/4 windows ordered and tint.

You should recieve a yellow card from th Daytona Racing District in the near future. If you do not get one through the mail on the Monday before the show send a message to dragon@spacecoastfieros.com

      My unofficial update:

Got the laptops set up and networked last night.
Car Show program has been compiled and installed on the Laptops.
Discovered that there is no parallel port on these laptops, so I need to get a USB printer cable.
Charging extra car battery to power Laptops at the track.
Got a projector just in case we need it.
Got extension cord
Got power strip
Got extra Laptop for Frank

I believe I'm ready for registration and judging.

I'll be there sometime on Thursday. Don't know if I'll be there for lunch, but save me a seat at dinner.

Do the rooms have high speed network connections? I guess I'll find out in 17 hours, 18 minutes and 20 seconds

Every hour??? They don't have a wireless connection at the only bar in town that serves Guinness, so I guess I'm a bit late.

Pic's??? You don't want to see what I have pictures of so far!

My car??? Only the guy at the gas station on my way in to town. Hey seemed to dig it. ;-)

Oh, and by the way Archie, Thanks! If it weren't for the hard work that you and your crew did I'd still be in NC.

Cheers.
Dowdian

      I'm here in Room 819.

Curley and I couldn't hook up because he got snowed out somewhere out in NM I think. He should be here late Friday

But at least there are two chop tops in town. I was delayed for several hours, when a tire blew out on my trailer. Luckily no one as hurt and I carry a spare but I went on a search for a new spare, (remember I always carry a spare).

Since I have vary little paint to shine I have maximum time to socialize, look for the guy in the Fiero shirt

Well wife this morning says why are we getting up so early to go, why not just go this
afternoon and spend the night.
So we will be leaving around noon.
(I Love my Wife)
Is there going to be any cruising and if so where and when.
I will be dropping by the Hotel after we get settled in.
I did call the Holiday Inn and of course they are booked-up,
so I am thinking maybe the Ramada next to the Speedway.

      Update from down south...

I woke up a bit late this morning. As I mentioned before, yesterday was St Pat's and for those who don't know, I take great pride in my Irish heratage . Once I got out and about, I headed downstairs to the garage to see what was going on. I hung out there with Norm (not sure what his UserName is here) and JScott for a while chatting about Fieros . Around noon I headed down to the south end of the island for lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant. The food was great, the service was great and there were about 20 people there all sitting around chatting about Fieros . After lunch I decided to take a little trip toward the north end of the island to see what I could see. Man this place is beautiful! Once I got beyond all the hotels and such the road bumps right up against the beach for miles. After I got back, I got Sharona and my self registered for tomorrow, picked up my goodie bag and spent some time chatting (yet again) about Fiero's .

That's it so far. My next step is to figure out what to do about dinner.

I took a couple of pictures on my jaunt today. Here's one from the south end, close to the lighthouse:

and another from the north end:

Cheers,
Dowdian
