T O P I C R E V I E WSTARpowerHi, I know have seen something about this before, but I can't seem to pull it up from search.I have a project, where I want to replace part of the hood and deck skin.Looking for the best method to seperate the skin from the under framework.Any help would be appreciated, thanks------------------Just can't leave well enough alone!!Tha DriverUse a gasket scraper or similar very thin putty knife. Drive it between the layers with a hammer, & they will separate pretty easily. Biggest problem is around the edges: it's hard to get to without breaking the little flange off the edge.~ Paulaka "Tha Driver"Custom Fiberglass Parts2.5Would heat help?STARpowerOr cold?Or Maybe some solvent?I am sacrificing the skin, so I could just cut off the edges, where the overhang is.Giving me a straight shot between the layers.Does it pop off in one piece, or does it tend to break up ?revinHeat or cold will not helpTha DriverIt pops off surprising easily once you get started. Just be patient & drive the putty knife between them, working your way around.~ Paulaka "Tha Driver"Custom Fiberglass PartsSTARpowerThanks for the info.I will try one and see what success I have.Helps to practice ; )I'll post some pics, for later reference , when I get to that stage.
