Surprised nobody has posted yet what anniversary today is (Page 1/2)

77 years ago today, our grandparents got one hell of a black eye.

We are getting another one as I type, just in a different way.

Were they THAT much better and tougher than us and all this P-C bullshit ?

This is the first year that no survivors of the attack were not in attendance.
There are five survivors still living, but they were unable to travel to the memorial service.

I posted a note to the Today Show, for not even mentioning it was Pearl Harbor Day. Liberal news thought it more important to show a 99 yard touchdown run or that an astrophysicist is accused of sex when he was in college 25 years ago.

Right on.

Thanks for your service Roger.

At our monthly club meeting today, that subject was brought up. Some felt that the George H.W. Bush services overrode it. I did see one mention of it on a local channel, but as far as the cable news channels, I turned them off because I didn't want to sit and watch hours of motorcades and other matters not directly related to the religious services commemorating his life and service.

Thats funny..really funny...I turned off a lot just because I am tired-to-death of religion and just dont want to hear it anymore. 48 years of trying to fight off christians wears a man out.

Your God...not mine.

My office (about 35 of us) stay in a group chat all day. I mentioned that we should remember what "today" (on the 7th) was all about. Sadly, only 1 had any idea what I was talking about and he was the only other vet in the office.

The farther you get in time from an event, the less it is remembered.

Case in point "9/11" when people posted it on FB this year I saw a lot of "why are you posting that crap again? When is Enough, Enough?"

At this point we will be hit with a terrorist event or worse and the majority of "America" will be "meh" on social media.

I saw an interview segment on a news program the other day. They were asking college students when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Not one interviewed was even close. Some said 1960s, other said 1980s. Thank you American history teachers for teaching kids to be total morons. I think a mandatory enlistment into the military should be required for EVERY high school graduate, or deferred until college completion. I think it could cure a LOT of American society problems. Theres even a place somewhere for most disabilities and dissenters.

Thanks Tony.

You absolutely deserve that respect. I should remember that from time to time.
