I just also remembered that I have 2 copies of this kit stashed away in a closet along with the parts to modify it into a MkIIIb and the parts to make a T70 Spyder, (open top)
Mark Donohue's Penske / Sunoco MkIIIb and John Surtees' T70 Spyder have always been 2 of my favorite cars.
The model kit as it comes is incorrect. It has a Chevrolet V8 in it, instead of the Aston Martin V8 that was in the MkIII. Fortunately the Chevy *was* used in the IIIb
Things to occupy my time in retirement .....

There were two MkIII T70's that were originally fitted with Aston-Martin V8's; chassis #'s 101 & 121. Both engines were soon replaced with Chevys. The image on the box represents #101 as it appeared at Nürburgring in May of '67 and would have still had the A-M at that time.

I was fortunate enough to be there when Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons drove a T70 to victory at Daytona in 1969.
