Al Franken resigns (Page 1/3)
blackrams DEC 07, 02:03 PM
Al Franken resigns says he'll resign. Well-played, Democrats. You managed to make a ham sandwich from a cow pie, and I salute you! Fellow Democrats demanded he resign and did so for one reason, and one reason only; it was good politics with no downside. They get to claim moral high ground, their Democrat Governor gets to appoint a more electable liberal replacement, and the Senate Democrats will not lose a single vote because of it. They come out with a win/win, and can concentrate on demanding Republicans who WOULD lose a seat do the same, i.e. Alabama. If Al Franken were a Democrat Senator from WI, a recently almost neutral State with a Republican Governor to appoint his replacement, past history says Democrats would have defended him or remained silent in exchange for his promising not to run for re-election.

Pure politics, betting money says the Lt Gov from Minnesota will get the nod to fill the vacancy. Has nothing to do with whether or not he actually did what he's accused of. Dems will use this as the high ground if Moore wins in Mississippi.

after a shooting, the problem is the gun....

Good riddance.

Let's see how the Conyers mess pans out.

The guy is promoting his son as his replacement.

The son is a budding rapper who already has an arrest record for a knife assault against his girlfriend.

Be fun to see which way the Dems play that one.

The fly in the ointment is that he hasn't actually resigned. That won't come until the end of the year.

You are correct. If Moore is elected, then the Dems will point to Alabama and Franken can renege.

'nother interesting unsubstantiated charge -

John Conyers mentioned Chandra Levy when ex-intern rejected sexual advances
Rep. John Conyers casually mentioned missing slain federal intern Chandra Levy when a former office intern rebuffed his advances, the woman said.

Courtney Morse told the Washington Post that she quit her internship with the Michigan Democrat after he made unwanted sexual advances after driving her home a decade and a half ago.

Morse, 36, was a 20-year-old college student when Conyers “drove her home from work one night, wrapped his hand around hers as it rested in her lap, and told her he was interested in a sexual relationship,” according to The Post.

When she rejected his advances, Morse said Conyers brought up Levy’s disappearance.

Levy, a Federal Bureau of Prisons intern, disappeared in 2001. Her remains were found a year later in a park in Washington.

“He said he had insider information on the case. I don’t know if he meant it to be threatening, but I took it that way,” Morse said. “I got out of the car and ran.”

Correct on both counts. Won't surprise me if he does back out on this.
Ya know, it's not like the voters didn't know what they were getting....................... Now, they'll get whoever the Governor appoints. I'd be pissed if I was from MN.

Looks like Moore is going to win. GOP reinstated funding and support. 75% of voters dont believe any of the accusers.

Why should anyone believe these women? It was 40 years ago. And of the 4 only 2 said he did anything wrong, since dating a 17 year old is/was legal and even then those two said he only kissed them on a date. Now the other ones there are several questions about and their information doesn't add up. It was and is a hit job by the Democrats trying to win an election by hook or crook.

Well we can only hope that the Chandra Levi thing pans out too.

We can segue from father to son and paint the Dems as generational criminals. Again.

Maybe this time the country will listen.

Maybe.
