Does anyone have a mechanical governor cover for the speed sensor for a 4T60 transmission? The transmission I have has the pulse type governor but as I have researched and understand you can use the guts out of the stock Fiero 3-speed but you have to have a taller cover.

I just went thru this same thing a month or two ago. Check out this thread. I think it's the same piece you're looking for WTB 4T40 VSS / Governor[This message has been edited by jaybug56 (edited 11-08-2019).]

Yep, I have seen that thread. I e-mailed Charlie and he said he had no more caps or a source for any. Thanks

Thanks, I`m going to visit a couple of salvage yards in my area to look as they have a few mid 80s GM cars.

I lucked out. Found this in the first car I looked at. An 86 Deville. Got it for 8 bucks and some change. Since the transmission I have is a Deville I`m hoping that it will work right with the weights and gearing it has.

We have met before. I held a rally in Kerrville. Mike, right ? I probably have the part you need. Out of an 86GT auto. I so not know where on the power train it is located or I would look. That said, mine may not have the correct gearing. I used to work at an auto repair shop along side a friend who has been a certified tech all his life. He learned me that all transmissions have gearings which controlled the speedometer's speed read out. The gearings were different colors which provided the speedometer cable the correct rpm's so the speedometer was correct. You should easily be able to get the correct color gears for that unit you found.
Call me if you need to. 210 471 1192 Cliff

Thanks jaybug56 Cliff, yep I remember you. I think you had a Jeep at one of the events and a Black GT at another. I will keep that in mind about the gear. I`m hoping my transmission as the same drive as the one that I got this governor out of. Thanks
