SOLD! For sale 1987 V8 5-speed glass window chop top.
I bought the car and started the engine swap in 2001. I first did the v8 swap and drove it a couple years then got the choptop bug and that spread to more modifications before i completed the chop. I am just not as excited to work on it any more. Its an 87GT it was blue with silver ground effects but now has a red roof and grey primer over modified areas. The original blue roof came off in pieces during the chop.
The following is a list of work that has been done
355 Chevy V8, Late 70s block Cylinders and deck machined. Re-manufactured rods and crank New flat top pistons, roller cam, roller rockers Double roller timing chain HEI distributor with a firing order corrected cap that makes so wires are not crossing each other. Polished Elelbrock performer RPM air gap intake Custom air filter box World product heads with 200cc intake runner 2.08 intake valves and 1.6 exhaust Fitec fuel injection installed last summer. POR15 paint on fuel tank when changing the fuel pump. New braided steel AN Fuel lines with filters Electric water pump No AC, The car had it originally so a compressor could be added.
5 speed Getrag transmission Spec stage 2+ clutch kit. Just installed. Spare getrag 5 speed and half shafts used but functional
12" corvette brakes with powder coated calipers 1.5" lowering springs 18" wheels not perfect they have some scratches new tires, last summer, less than 100 miles on them new complete polyurethane bushing kit not installed polyurethane cradle bushings installed Rebuilt headlight motors
Exterior Little to no rust on frame Tail lights are de-laminating and cracked 3" chop Body chop modifications 95% complete Some bodywork still needs done in the corners, currently grey primer over modified areas custom smoked acrylic 1/4 windows, one looks real good and the other is not shaped quite right at the front glass side windows, with tint new windshield and smoked rear glass custom tall spoiler risers Functional Mustang style scoop bonded and molded into decklid, There is a hole in the deck lid for the air cleaner to pull air from under the scoop
Interior POR15 on interior floor and welded areas Dynamat on floor and back wall under carpet Custom bolt in roll bar with cross bar for 4 point harness, has welded in threaded mount plates Stock seats currently installed, in rough condition Used black ultra suede Corbeau racing seats not installed, needs custom brackets New Pioneer radio and speakers Custom engine gauges in the aux gauge pod Large tach with shift light mounted to the right of the gauge pod
The car ran 12.9 at 103 mph in the quarter mile before changing to fuel injection and swapping to the bigger heads. The car still needs the following
Some body work Paint Trim around exterior rear window A-post interior trim headliner B-post interior trim speedometer does not work shocks and bushings are worn out and makes the car handle sloppy Maybe quieter exhaust, depends on what you like Thanks, Dustin[This message has been edited by fierodustin (edited 07-04-2021).]
