Tail light compatibility SE/GT (Page 1/1)
Jasperr JUL 02, 05:36 PM
Probably a stupid question. My ('85 SE) tail lights have a good many cracks in them so I was looking for replacements. I found someone with a good deal for GT ones and I just wanted to know if they'll fit or require any trickery to swap in.
Thanks in advance.

That literally does not tell us anything... as '85 GTs use notchie taillights whereas '86-'88 GTs use fastback ones.

Notchie taillights are plentiful, and relatively inexpensive.

Fiero only had 2 style of tail lights as per body style.

Notchie coupe body (all)

and 86-88 GT

'86-'88 GT is what I would be referring to. The ones that say Pontiac in the middle.

So you're asking if fastback taillights will fit in a notchie? Look at the images that fierosound posted. Not even close!

... but it has been done a couple of times!
It definitely is not a bolt in solution, significant body work is required!

Don't swap to fastback tails for no reason, unless you really like the fastback style.

Some Fiero owners gouge fellow Fiero owners and charge hundreds of dollars for used fastback taillights. So even if you get a good deal now, if you ever have to replace them later...

If you're indifferent to the style, I suggest sticking with notchie tails.

Just in case, I have a set of good(I believe) SE tail lights I don't need. If you're somewhere near Harrisburg or Wilkes-Barre you can take them free. PM or email me if you're interested.
