T-Top trim question (Page 1/1)

So the t-top trim piece indicated by the red arrow is a bit loose, but I'm not sure how it's held in place. I want to fix the issue, but I'm not sure how. Does anyone know how to do fix this?

Rivet(s) on the vertical face, through or underneath the weatherstripping (aka P-seal), and some IMO poorly designed and quite annoying clips at the back. See page 20 of the instructions (for what they're worth, which ain't much)

Assuming yours hasn't been dinked with, you can drill out the rivets and then CAREFULLY pry them up and forward, with a plastic prybar. Don't use metal like a screwdriver, or you'll chip the plastic on the trim. AMHIK. You'd have to replace the P-seal or at least work around it carefully to do so, however.

As for how to do it well/better, I don't know yet. I'm putting a donor car T-top setup onto my car, and I suspect I'll have to rework the mounting for those two pieces to my satisfaction. I hate to glue the thing down, but I'm thinking something flexible and/or expanding across the bottom back, and then screws or rivets on the front. Depends on what I end up doing for the P-seal area.

Thanks for the instructions, you're right though, they are kind of vague. Looking at my car, it looks like there is quite a bit is some type of adhesive under the trim pieces. I'm kind of hesitant to mess with the to be honest. Let me know how it goes with your donor car transplant.

I don't know the history of my donor, but somewhere along the line, whether @ C&C or later, somebody decided that all of the world's problems could be solved by copious application of silicone caulking. They musta gone through four tubes of the stuff, ugh.

I'll follow up as I progress, and let us know if you find anything out as well. Thanks!
