Stereo wire and wire route retainer clip questions! (Page 1/1)

Can anyone tell me the name, or better, give me a link or part number, to those clips that hold the speaker wire in place? They are fairly flat, square, with those pegs that push into the rear firewall. Taking them out wrecks the clip, making it a one-use thing.

On the face of it, all it says is PED 12. I can post a pic tomorrow (need to get it off my phone and resize), but I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about at this point.

I found an incredible site for clips and fasteners, but I haven't found this particular clip yet.

Also, is the stereo wiring that goes to the B-pillar speakers 12 gauge wiring? Is that why that clip has the "12" on it? I forgot to look up the wire size in the repair manual before I left my buddies house on Saturday. I need to get some so we can fix the speaker wire.

Anything w/ PED is just Packard Electric Division of GM and later sprung off as Delphi later bankrupt and sold to many others.
Nearly all connectors and wire plastic parts in Fiero have PED somewhere on them.

12 here likely means little or nothing.

Speaker wire is Not 12 gauge/awg.

Fiero and all GM Wires are metric sizes not awg sizes. In this case 0.5 mm2.

GM use these clips to make the car fast w/ less labor at factory.
You don't need them and simply use nylon "Tie straps" or whatever is handy. Just make sure metal you tie to don't has shape edges to cut into the wires.

Thanks Ogre!

I was actually reading through your site and found the wiring info after I posted this.

Good to know about the plastic parts. Mike does have some fiber-infused electrical tape, I guess I can use that.

Thank you for the speaker wire size. I will go an order some 0.5mm-squared (ie AWG 20) wire now!

(edit - I was having some issues finding 22 awg, so I tried searching google using "0.5mm squared" "speaker wire", and one of the results that came up was another conversion saying it was 22 awg. YMMV).
