3800SC E-85 Fuel Pump (Page 1/1)

I am throwing the idea around of going the E85 route with my 3800SC. My question is, will my AC Delco EP381 fuel pump be sufficient/E85 compatible? If not, what do you recommend?

The Entire fuel system needs all parts that will take E15 to E85 not just the pump.
And w/o flex-fuel sensor and ECM/PCM program to use it you will have problems driving in/thru other places that don't carry E85 anywhere because fuel map and ignition timing changes for the actual fuel mix you have at the time.

Based on this article I'd stick to real gasoline.

I am assuming you know all about tuning and using e85 so I will ignore that.

That pump is good for roughly 350 crank hp on E85 forced induction based on a flow calculator, and the info I found stating 50 GPH on that pump.

You are probably fine, but will be close to the limit of the pump

I am in the process of switching to Flex Fuel and these are the pumps I have narrowed it down to. I have been looking for pumps listed as E85 compatible.

F90000267 Walbro 450LPH, E85
F90000285 Walbro HELLCAT 525LPH, E85

My current pump is a Walbro 340M.

This is all you need. Summit racing has it for about $120.
You'll have to do some splicing in 2 wires and that's all.
And your 36lbs injectors should be upgraded to 42lbs injectors.

I can understand the reluctance and the possible side effects of using E85 due to it being only 15% gasoline and 85% alcohol BUT E10 ( standard pump gas) is 10% alcohol. Will that extra alcohol make that much of a difference on the erosion of the fuel lines and seals? Point is the fuel system is already being subjected to alcohol.

Not just the fuel system, but e85 will wear out your O2 sensors faster as well.

Worth it for the extra power you can make!

People who have used e85 on fuel systems not designed for it often have their injectors clog as the fuel lines break down and gum up your injectors.
