What is the best vertical door kit to use? (Page 1/2)

Hi everyone! New to the forums here

I am looking for a vertical lambo door kit for my 1985 Fiero 2m4.
There are so many kits out there. I just do not know which one would work best. I want to try and avoid messing around and modifying parts of the car to fit a kit in if possible.
It would be ideal if I could just bolt it on in place of the old door hinge without making any other modifications.
I am hoping to find one that opens up to around 60 inches from the ground giving plenty of room.
I have also seen remote door kits as well which can open on their own. If there is a kit out there with this feature that would be a plus.

Thanks everyone!

Also, I am looking for some nice LED headlights, blinkers, and day time driving lights to add on later. If anyone knows where I could find those, please let me know.

I got my Lambo door hinges from V-8 Archie. They were pretty easy to put on. With this kit you just stuff cardboard into the cracks around the door and tape it in-place. Then you take off the front fender and you have access to the bolts that hold the door on. You remove the old hinges and put the new hinges on. May your wiring changes and adjust. It takes time, but it is not too hard to do.

LED headlights: The only ones I have heard about are from TLG. And they are very expensive. You will also be able to find a lot of other stuff in the way of lighting from TLG. Or from doubleC4 on the forum.

Yep, V8 Archie ran a bolt on kit a few years back. As far as a bolt on kit goes, his are hands down the best in fit, finish and quality. Good luck finding a set now though. Archie is retired, and I am not sure his hinges are available any longer. There was another vendor that sold them for a short time.

If I understand correctly, those parts/kits will still be for sale.

Thanks a lot everyone! I am going to go ahead and look into what Archie has. Also if any of you have some picture of your car or someones car with the Archie doors, that would be amazing.

There is a thread dedicated to these doors.
I think it is Archie's For Sale Thread.

I tried to look for that thread, but had no luck. I am not the best at navigating this site quite yet.
If you could maybe link me to it or tell me how to find it, that would be much appreciated!

I suspect that any vertical door kit will not be the most stable option, even Archies. My Lambo body is designed from the begining for vertical doors, no outward and then upward movement and my hinges are really robust. There is a lot of leverage involved in a long door with only one hinge. I know that there was a time when vertical doors were almost mandatory for a show car, but I think that it will prove to be a transitory fad. jmho

Before I bought Archie's hinge, I'd agree with you in regards to being stable. There was another vendor that made a hinge that I bought. After getting just one door on, I did not care for the fit, the function, or the flimsy feel the doors had with the vertical hinge. After about a year, I saw Archie's hinge go up for a group buy, and I'd seen his hinges first hand on other Fieros, so I decided to give it another try.

Archie's hinge is a very robust and solid hinge. There is no wiggle in the door in any position, open, up or closed or the transition between any of those positions. I've had my hinges on for over 2 years now and believe they will outlast the car itself.
