Jack is "missing" a black "rubber band." Band gets pushed on handle end to stop handle bumping things or vibration noise driving on rough roads.

Many cars not in locations using road salt in winter even before "detailing" it.

Salt for winter is often still around thru spring and even summer. Is why you can see snake grass and other salt tolerate plants near roads far from the ocean or their normal homes.
