Indy Confusion (Page 1/1)

Ok I'm a little confused about the Indy's ( there appears to be two different versions )

I'm getting confusing information concerning my Indy in my other post.

I've seen pictures of Indy's that look basically like a plain White Fiero only they have the badge on the Front Fascia, the decals and wing on the rear deck, and thats it, no Pontiac in the windshield Tint and no decals on the doors.

In addition, viewers who have looked at my pictures, say I don't have door panels or shift knob or arm rest, which leaves me confused, as the seatbacks are there, steering wheel badge there. Its a manual so no badge on the knob, the door panels are there, despite being grungy, but no badges on them!

It is my understanding that there were First some 84 Pace Cars, and then some 85 Replica's, is there a difference? and what were the differences?

Thanks

all pace cars are replicas..(Unless it was in front of a bunch of Indy cars in May...)
A lot of white fieros were converted to look like the factory pace car replica. Or the interior was swapped out due to aging, damage. Not all of the factory cars got the decals on the doors. They were in the trunk.

And the decals in the trunk is why they all look different. A lot of people put them on, a lot of people did not. The other stuff you might be missing probably got sold off by a previous owner.

Every time people tell me that they saw a white Fiero for sale, I ask 2 questions...
Does it have a bubble nose?
Is the rear deck lid flat?
84 was the only year that the rear deck lid was completely flat and the Indy was the only 84 that had a bubble (GT style) nose.
If they say yes to both I'm in the truck to look for the "Y82" in the build tag.
I did find a Fiero years ago that was an Indy that someone painted black so the white thing sometimes doesn't hold water.
I have never heard of an Indy that was an 85.
If your build tag has "Y82" on it you are good.
The rest of the missing stuff may be just missing.

I've had multiple Fieros over the last 25 years. If you would have asked me that question, I would've had absolutely no idea what you were talking about.

Not my terminology. That was from a non Fiero person.
