Quarter Mile List, 3rd Edition (Page 1/6)
pmbrunelle APR 24, 07:39 PM
I am now the maintainer of the current Quarter Mile List.

I took over from forum member Blacktree, who retired from his Quarter Mile List duties after more than one decade of service.
This is the previous list: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/070670.html

The rules will remain mostly as per the status quo; I like how Blacktree ran the list.

***************THE RULES***************

1) You must offer proof of your claim.
A copy of the timeslip, or a photo/video of the run (with your car and the display board clearly visible), are both acceptable forms of proof. But "so-and-so saw it and can vouch for it" or "I raced a 12-second Mustang and kept up with him" is not.

2) Post your submission in this thread. This is important to maintain transparency with the rest of the Fiero community. I'm on the forum regularly enough, so I shouldn't miss any submissions. In general, do not send me emails or PMs regarding submissions... unless the thread has moved off the 1st page of the forum; that means I missed it.

3) Please provide some info regarding your car. You don't need to go into great detail unless you want, but you should at least provide the engine and transmission type (for example: 3800SC / 4T65E-HD). It would also be nice if you could tell us the body style of your Fiero (for example: '85 GT, '88 Formula, etc).

****************************************

Entries compliant with the proof requirements of RULE 1) are written in green text.

Entries written in regular (light gray) text have been grandfathered; they predate the implementation of the present proof requirements.
I will only accept new entries that are compliant with RULE 1).

****************************************

Not a lot of quarter mile activity lately!

However, when my Fiero runs, I'll be taking it to the dragstrip.

I was wondering about "test-and-tune" days... people still drive "hard" during those events.

For tuning my Fiero, I'll need to do a series of pulls from idle to redline, probable in 2nd or 3rd gear.
My plan is to datalog the engine acceleration as I vary the timing.

Not sure how people might feel about the poor entertainment value of seeing a car get off the line like a normal street start...

Anyway... I may also find a desolate stretch of road for this.

Who cares what they think? Get your car tuned.

Yeah, you're right, I should just focus on what I have to do.

It would be interesting to organize the results into various categories such as 2.8 V6 times, 3800 times, SBC times, Duke times, Quad 4 times, etc. For instance i see no Ecotec times listed.

Well that's because you haven't done your swap yet!

As far as data sorting goes, it won't be optimal since the data entry wasn't exactly done with a standardized format.

That said, I could re-write the information in comma-separated-values format, with some loose classifications; then the data could easily be imported in a spreadsheet program and sorted as you wish. I wouldn't want to impose a fixed sorting by engine, because some folks (like myself) will want to see the list ordered by E.T.

Is that something you want me to do?

I’m 3800, not V8.

Edit, there are a few 3800 guys (L67, L32, L26, L36) that are listed under SBC on that edited list.

Jon, now that we have two quarter mile lists, BOTH lists need updating (by you, and by me) if someone has a new entry. What happens if the lists don't agree with each other anymore?

This is not something I see as reasonable...

I see the following three options as "reasonable":
1. I modify my list in the initial post to be in CSV format so that it can be sorted per the viewer's desires (E.T, MPH, Engine, etc), and you remove your list from this thread.
2. You become the designated quarter mile list guardian, and you create a new thread where you sort the entries the way you want (e.g. per engine type).
3. I continue with the status quo, and you remove your list from this thread.

Let me know which one you prefer.
