Back into a Fiero (Page 1/1)

I had an 86 GT a while ago. Did some work to it, T-Tops, ect. Loved the car but decided to sell it due to an upcoming deployment (Iraq). I've always missed that car, but got into a GMC Syclone as my project truck once I got back, so that took a lot of mine time. Still wanted another Fiero though. My Syclone runs great (not sure how long that'll last!) but still want a Fiero. Wife said I have to sell the Syclone... but we will see when that happens!

Finally picked on up today. Been looking for the right one for a while now, and just couldn't quite find it in my price range and distance, so figure I'll get something and just make it how I want it. '88 base coupe. Haven't torn into it yet, but had to use the RZR winch to get it off the trailer Interior is pretty dirty, but that's not too bad to work on.

Anyways, glad to be back into a Fiero. Just something about the cars. Nothing too extravagant planed, but gonna start with some '88 GT wheels if I can find them!

I'd ditch the wife before I ditched the Syclone, lol.

Hey Goat ( GTO that is..... You picked the right year. I had a number of Fiero's through the years, now my 88 Formula is mine to stay. Take your time and enjoy your new project. Wife comes first though.. : ) Thanks for your service in Iraq.

Thanks. Car doesn't run as it is, so gotta decide if I want to get it running as is, or just start the engine swap and upgrades right away. Nothing extravagant. More than likely just going to go with a "plug in" 3.4 pushrod. Then get the rest of the car where I want it to be.

Biggest downside is it is an auto. Read a lot of threads on swapping in a 5 sp so I know about what I'm going to get into. if I can find a complete doner car that'd be best, but might just have to go with it.

Consider swapping in a 4T60 auto tranny. Anything is better than the 3-spd auto.

Thank you for your service!!

3.4 is an excellent upgrade.
With a Getrag they are a fun car to drive.
